About the Author

Scott Feldman’s career in the music industry has ranged from startups and beginners to stadium superstars.   At the beginning, a fluke internship with one of Boston’s most legendary disc jockeys became a fulltime position producing Boston’s legendary “Big Mattress” morning broadcast hosted by Charles Laquidara and heard by millions each day on WZLX.  During four years at ‘ZLX, Scott booked guests, coordinated multiple remote broadcasts, wrote endless amounts of on-air copy, and thrived on being a hands-on player in one of Boston’s most beloved radio broadcasts.

The thrill of radio, along with the desire to learn more, prompted Scott to go back to school, and he enrolled at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.  During his time at Berklee, Scott studied Music Business and Management and began to understand the method and history behind the industry.

Following Berklee, Scott became the National Promotions Manager and Director of Media Relations for music startup in Hollywood, CA.  While there, he programmed the stations highly successful and pioneering online radio stations, developed partnerships and programs with SonyMusic, Capitol Records, Universal Music, and major corporations including AIG/Ticketmaster.    During his time at, site traffic grew by over 800% ultimately reaching over 2 million unique users per month, and radio stations broadcast over 50 million tracks per year.

Returning from Hollywood, Scott shifted gears from major label talent to indie artists, and created one of the first marketing teams at Nimbit – an early DIY artist sales and distribution platform.  Scott was a featured panelist at NEMO and CMJ, and generated 80% growth in site traffic over a one year period.

Scott also worked with to create and manage partnerships with entities including the Newport Folk Festival, John Lennon Songwriting Contest, CMJ, and Virgin Records.

Working directly with artists, Scott has consulted for clients including Livingston Taylor, Berklee College of Music, Howie Day, Dan HL, Barefoot Truth, and many others.

Most recently,Scott is the founder of D.I.-Why.   In an era of increasing confusion and frustration for musicians, D.I.-Why lets you get the job done.  The Analysis of Hype is his first book.
